Arts @ Large

Arts @ Large is an innovative program that provides multidisciplinary arts experiences for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) K-12 students.  Arts @ Large initiatives highlight the essential role that art and music specialists and members of the greater arts community play in creating an inclusive atmosphere of classroom learning.

National Urban League

The National Urban League is a historic civil rights organization dedicated to economic empowerment in order to elevate the standard of living in historically under-served urban communities. They employ a five-point approach to provide economic empowerment and educational opportunities-- including access to early childhood literacy, after-care programs and college scholarships for all children.

National Center for Family Literacy

The NCFL inspires and engages families in the pursuit of education and learning together. They have helped more than 1 million families make educational and economic progress by pioneering – and continuously improving – family literacy programs. Their emphasis is on family literacy for a simple reason, because study after study shows that family, home and community are the true drivers of a child’s education.

Communities in Schools

Communities in Schools is a nationwide network of passionate professionals working within the public school system to determine students’ needs and establish relationships the relationships necessary to provide their needed resources. They surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.

School of the 21st Century

School of the 21st Century, based at Yale University, develops, researches, networks, and supervises a national model that links communities, families, and schools. Among many other determined initiatives they envision a school that recognizes that learning begins early and helps prepare children for school, before they enter kindergarten, through full-day, year-round early care and education programs and partnerships with local child care providers.

National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education

The mission of the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education is simple: to advocate the involvement of parents and families in their children's education, and to foster relationships between home, school, and community to enhance the education of all our nation's young people. The National Institute for Out-of-School time

The National Institute for Out-of-School Time has one mission-to ensure that all children, youth, and families have access to high quality programs, activities, and opportunities during non-school hours. These experiences are essential to the healthy development of children and youth, who then can become effective and capable members of society.

The After School Alliance

The Afterschool Alliance is working to ensure that all children have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs. The Afterschool Alliance works with the Administration, the U.S. Congress, governors, mayors and advocates across the country. Today the Afterschool Alliance boasts more than 25,000 afterschool program partners and our publications reach more than 65,000 interested individuals every month.

All Kinds of Minds

All Kinds of Minds believes that it’s time to change the conversation when it comes to our education system.  It is time to recognize that each student has a unique learning profile that reflects his or her particular learning strengths, weaknesses, and affinities. Their focus is on building expertise about learning in our schools, so that we can consider how students learn and why they may be struggling, not just how well or poorly they’re doing on their tests.
